This paper presents a comprehensive SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis of homestays in the Kashmir Valley, a burgeoning segment of the region's tourism industry. The analysis identifies the inherent strengths of Kashmiri homestays, such as their ability to offer authentic local experiences, personalized hospitality, and direct economic benefits to local communities. The weaknesses explored include infrastructural inadequacies, regulatory challenges, and issues of accessibility and safety perceptions among potential tourists. Opportunities for growth are significant, driven by increasing global interest in sustainable and experiential travel, governmental support for tourism, and digital marketing avenues. However, threats such as political instability, environmental concerns, and competition from established hotels and other lodging options could impede growth. This paper argues that with strategic planning and support, homestays in Kashmir can not only enhance the tourist experience but also contribute substantially to the socio-economic development of the region.
