Abstract

Postcolonial literature refers to literatures written in English in former colonies. It is also a subject of ongoing debate in contemporary literary and critical studies. Postcolonial literary theory is an emphatic assertion of the need of dealing adequately with the hybridity and specificity of native cultures.
