Abstract

Brassica juncea root extract (BJRE) was investigated as corrosion inhibitor on mild steel (MS) in 1 M HCl through weight loss and electrochemical methods. The results of root extract showed that inhibition efficiency (IE) increase with increase in concentration and decrease with increase in temperature. Polarization study indicated that B. juncea act as inhibitor of mixed type. Nyquist plot showed that with rising the root extract concentration, double layer capacitance decreased and the charge transfer resistance increased. Adsorption of B. juncea on MS followed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm.
