A study of the geomorphic and human influence on land resources

people, such as Shaler, McGee, Gilbert, and Marsh, have made important contributions to the field. Nevertheless, throughout the course of the last two decades, concerns over the state of the global environment have brought the function of anthropogeomorphology into clearer focus. As a result of the direct effects of warming, as a consequence of other related climatic changes (such as changes in precipitation), and as a result of climatically moderated changes in major geomorphologically significant variables, global warming, if it happens, will have significant repercussions for a great number of geomorphological processes and phenomena. These repercussions will be important for a number of reasons (e.g. vegetation cover).
