Abstract

This paper provides a comparative analysis of sustainable waste management practices in rural and urban areas. The study examines waste segregation, composting, and recycling initiatives and their effectiveness in reducing landfill dependency. Data was collected from field surveys and interviews in five rural and five urban settlements. The study highlights that while urban areas have more infrastructure for waste management, rural areas can adopt low cost, community driven solutions that promote sustainability.
