Abstract

A review of attenuation in fiber optic has been proposed in the research work. Attenuation is a measure of
the loss of signal strength or light power that occurs as light pulses propagate through a run of multimode or single -
mode fiber. Measurements are typically defined in terms of decibels or dB/km. There
are several researches that have been made in the field of attenuation in optical
devices. Such existing work is also described in the proposed work. In the research
work the attenuation in different cases is calculated. Along with this the comparative
analysis of attenuation is also provided in different scenarios. The research work
would be helpful in the future time to know about the influencing factor of
attenuation in optical devices.
